Introduction
This 5 days tour covers most of the major tourist destinations in Turkmenistan, plus the Caspian Sea city of Turkmenbashi and the stunning Yangikala Canyons.
Itinerary
Day 1, Dashoguz/ Khiva – Darvaza
- Meeitng at the border (Shavat). It is the border crossing point between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan close to Khiva.
- We will head directly to the Darvaza Crater after lunch. (300km, 7 hours, the road is under construction)
- 19:00, Reach Darvaza crater and have first walk around there.
- 20:00, Have a dinner, and it is usually a kebab prepared at the place.
- 21:00, Spend additional time at the “Gates of Hell”.
- Overnight in Yurts at the Darvaza.
Day 2, Darvaza – Ashgabat
- 06:00, Have the breakfast at the “Door to Hell”.
- 07:00, Depart to Ashgabat. (300km, 5 hrs drive). On the way stop at two other craters: Water Crater and Mud Crater. We will also stop at a local village of Yerbent or Bokurdak to take photos of the local life.
- 12:00, Reach Ashgabat and have a lunch at a restaurant.
- 13:30, Start the City Tour of Ashgabat.
- Later we will check into a hotel and afterwards have dinner.
- Overnight in Ashgabat.
Day 3 Ashgabat – Turkmenbashi
- 07:00, Drive to Turkmenbashi. (600km).
- On the way we will visit Akhalteke horse farm, Kow-Ata and Nokhur mountain village.
- 13:00, Have a lunch at the Nokhur village.
- 19:00, Reach Turkmenbashi.
- After some sightseeing of the Awaza resort, (largest tourist resort on the Entire Caspian Sea). Check into a hotel.
- Dinner at a restaurant with Caspian seafood.
- Overnight in Turkmenbashi.
Day 4, Turkmenbashi – Ashgabat
- 07:00, Checkout from the hotel and head to Yangikala. (150km, 2hrs)
- 10:00, Reach Yangikala Canyons and have sightseeing for about 3 hours.
- 13:00, Head towards Ashgabat. (500km).
- On the way we will have a lunch ans dinner at some restaurants.
- 22:00, Reach Ashgabat and check into the hotel.
- Overnight in Ashgabat.
Day 5, Ashgabat – Merv – Turkmenabat – Bukhara
- 07:00, Check-out from the hotel in Ashgabat and head towards the Merv ruins. (350km, 5hrs)
- 12:00, Have a lunch somewhere on the way to the Merv.
- 13:30, Start the sightseeing tour in the Merv.
- 17:00, Finish the Merv tour and head towards the border with Uzbekistan. (300km, 5hrs).
- 21:00, Reach the Border with Uzbekistan at the town of Farab.
- End of Tour !!!
