Introduction

This is a tour that covers all the main site of Turkmenistan and focuses little bit more on the Caspian Sea and Yangikala Canyons near the Sea. The tour is a little bit intensive on driving. There are three destinations that all start from Ashgabat, because it is in the center of everything.

Itinerary

Day 1, Ashgabat – Yangikala

  • We will meet at the International Airport in Ashgabat.
  • From the Airport start our trip towards Yangikala Canyons (600km).
  • On the way visit Akhal-teke horse farm and Kow-Ata Underground Lake. Have a lunch on the way.
  • Reach the Yangikala Canyons and have a dinner at the canyons.
  • Overnight at the Yangikala Canyons, at tents.

Day 2, Yangikala – Turkmenbashi

  • 08:00, After the breakfast at the Yangikala Canyons proceed towards Turkmenbashi (Krasnovodsk).
  • 11:00, Start sightseeing of the Turkmenbashi city.
  • 13:00, Lunch at Turkmenbashi.
  • 15:00, Go to Awaza (20km), a Tourist Resort at the Caspian Sea, and start sightseeing.
  • 20:00, Dinner at a restaurant at Awaza.
  • Overnight in a hotel at Awaza.

Day 3, Turkmenbashi – Nokhur – Ashgabat

  • 08:00 After the breakfast at Awaza near Turkmenbashi, start driving towards Ashgabat city. on the way we will visit Balkanabat City and have a lunch there.
  • 12:00, After the lunch proceed towards Ashgabat
  • 17:00, Reach Nokhur, a beautiful mountain village.
  • 20:00 Reach Ashgabat, and have dinner at a resaturant.
  • Overnight in Ashgabat.

Day 4, Ashgabat – Merv (Mary)

  • 09:00, After the breakfast start driving towards Ancient Merv ruins (400km, 5 hours)
  • 14:00, have a lunch near the Merv ruins.
  • 15:00, Start sightseeing of the Ruins.
  • 18:00, Reach the regional Capital city, Mary
  • Have a dinner at Mary.
  • Overnight at Mary

Day 5, Merv (Mary) – Ashgabat

  • 08:00 After the breakfast proceed to Ashgabat, (350km, 5hrs).
  • 14:00, after the lunch start with city tour of Ashgabat, the capital city of Turkmenistan.
  • 20:00 after the dinner check-in a hotel in Ashgabat.
  • overnight in Ashgabat.

Day 6, Ashgabat – Darvaza Gas Crater

  • 09:00 After the breakfast have free time in Ashgabat.
  • 14:00, have lunch in a restaurant and start driving towards Darvaza, the Gas Crater, also called “Gate to Hell”
  • 19:00, Reach the Darvaza Gas Crater, and have some free time at the crater.
  • 20:00, have a dinner at the Darvaza, repared locally.
  • Overnight at Darvaza, in tents or yurtas.

Day 7, Darvaza – Khiva

  • 06:00, After the breakfast proceed towards Uzbekistan border near Khiva.
  • 13:00, Have a lunch at Dashoguz city, near Khiva.
  • If there is time we can go to the medieval city ruins of Kunya-Urgench.
  • Reach the border with Uzbekistan before 17:00.
  • End of Tour!!!
